This week we have a VST effect and two drum sample kits. =D
DSK Music puts out some decent free VSTi’s, and this particular one is no different. The DSK Overture VSTi gives you 53 different orchestral instruments (spanning the four different instrumental families, strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion) with the ability to combine 4 of these for whatever desired orchestral sound you are looking for; definitely not bad at all for a free VSTi. The VSTi also has various sound envelope options, as well as delay, reverb and chorus options. This is probably one of the best free VSTi’s I’ve ever had the opportunity to use and I’m sure my fellow producers (especially those starting out) will have no problem adding this one to your tools.
This very versatile VSTi has got a ton of great sounds that can help you out with your projects. Since the product is fully discontinued and is not available anywhere anymore for purchase, I’ve put it up in the vault to allow those who are need of a versatile VSTi to grab this one for free.
My personal favorites in this particular VSTi are the Brass and Orchestral presets. The Orchestral side has Spicatto strings that sound pretty realistic in terms of how they sound when the player brings the bow upward or downward.
For an example of the spicatto strings and the brass (particularly the French Horns in this song) you can listen to Black and Blue Ink.’s song Insurgency.
This kit packs 700+ samples, and a good thing about this kit is that it includes more than just drums. There’s some saxophone samples, guitar samples, organ samples, horns and more. If you can’t get your hands on VSTi’s, the instrument samples can be useful in a pinch.
Head on out to our Production Vault and get your free drums today!

This one’s called “Final Words.” Music and lyrics by Kim Pingul f.k.a Cocoa, produced and arranged by Kim Pingul and me and some extra assistance from Harmony Speaks.
This one’s pretty dark; Kim needed to get something off her chest. This was the first rock/acoustic song I’ve ever produced, and it came out great. I finally got to record my drums and bass and use the acoustic guitar recording setup that I outlined here. We’re pretty happy with the final product, and we hope you guys like the song.
Later on this week, Less will be coming through to record some material. So we might be releasing new stuff very soon!
MsP’s staying real busy. More coming your way, very soon!
