Just a few notes from me re: my perception of dynamics.
You may or may not relate to this in the genre sense but you should be able to understand the “feeling” of it.
Without going into specifics and without thinking about it too much, think of any song that at one time or another made you feel euphoric. Take that to mean what you want – elated, energized, relaxed and happy, high… whatever. It also shouldn’t matter what song it was, what genre, how old it was, or how old were. Have you picked a song yet? Don’t try to zero in on any specific song that makes you feel good, try to focus on a time you felt good because of a song. Hope you have a song in mind because now the thinking begins.
For the next part try to separate any emotional attachment your song may have stirred up in you. This isn’t about how a song makes you feel, but rather that a song makes you feel good because of the essence of the song and not because XYZ happened while that song was playing. Understand? What was it about the song that made you feel the way you did? Was it the drum beat? Or perhaps it was some guitar riff? To some people it may be (more…)

Here we are with another Production Vault Wednesday. =]
This bundle has three kits. The first two are inspired by two of the most legendary producers of hip-hop, DJ Premier and Pete Rock. Both of these kits contain dirty vinyl laced drums and some small instrument hits that are reminiscent of their styles. The Pete Rock one has some horn hits that give you a hint of Soul Brother #1.
The third kit is a huge kit, and it’s a collection of drums I’ve cut from hip-hop tracks and other genres over the years. They range from Queen’s “We Will Rock You” to various Neptunes-produced songs, to “Cupid” by 112, to many others.
The kit weighs in at 571 samples, so I’m sure you producers out there can put these to great use.

Here we are with another Production Vault Wednesday. =]
This kit is HUGE. There are over 1400 samples in this kit, and it’s safe to say that a majority of your drums and percussion needs would be covered with this kit alone. Aside from the standard kick, snare, hats and claps folders, you have folders for crash cymbals, ride cymbals, separate folders for open and close hats, rimshots, shakers, tambourines, toms and congas.
This is the biggest kit we have put up to date, and there’s more out there still to share from the vault in the coming weeks.

Here we are with another Production Vault Wednesday. =]
A few weeks back we were in New York, and now we fly over to LA and hit you with these kits. Again, I feel that these drums can be used for a variety of applications, but they were categorized as west coast by the originator.
On the second kit that’s on here, there’s an instrument folder that definitely has a west coast feel to them. The bass sounds as well as the wah-wah’d guitars and other sounds should give you that g-funk sound you need for that west coast bounce, similar to that mid 90′s Dr. Dre sound.
This bundle weighs in at a little less than 500 samples, so it should keep you busy for a while.

Behind the vault door today, we have a pretty big kit for you!
This kit comes from DJay Cas, a producer who has production credits with well-known artists such as Young Jeezy, Paul Wall, Yung La, Ice Cube, and others. Although this kit doesn’t contain original drums that he has created/recorded/tweaked, he put it together from his stash for the sake of others to use.
He dropped this kit a long time ago on The RapMusic.com Boards, and for me it’s been quite useful. The marching band stuff, though few in number, were great to me and provided a different yet pleasing sound for kicks and snares. The vox folder also has some good vocal cuts to help hype up your records; many of which you’ve heard on hit records, from hey’s to ow’s and oh’s.
At 701 samples, this kit should definitely keep you occupied for your next several production endeavors.
Make sure you follow Djay Cas at http://www.twitter.com/djaycas!
