Come get your drums! =D
This kit has some interesting sounds in it, and is definitely geared more towards the modern-day synthy producer as opposed to the classic boom-bap of old. There are some lo-fi drums in here, but I still feel they lack the realism for a good Premo or Pete Rock style beat. There are premade vinyl and tape sounds in one of the folders though that could help aid in that old school flavor if you want to go that route.
These drums will work best for south stuff that usually take the synthy 808 style drums sounds, as well as club bangers. Of course, these are just my recommendations, but you may find a different and possibly better use for them. With over 800+ samples to choose from, you should find a home for these.

Producers… come out to play… =D
With over 1500 drum samples, this is our largest kit uploaded to date, and is our most comprehensive. The usual stuff is in there (kicks, snares, hats), and you even get claps, castinets, various effects, percussion, tambourines, shakers, snaps, chimes, and more.
I’m guessing it’s called the MPC3000 for the vintage Akai sampler, but I don’t know if it’s a sound set from the unit itself or bundled, or whether it’s inspired from sounds that came with it. As I mentioned in a previous post for the vault for the MPC-2000XL kit, producers such as DJ Premier and Evil Dee of the Beatminerz are very big into the MPC’s.

Here we are with another Production Vault Wednesday. =]
A few weeks back we were in New York, and now we fly over to LA and hit you with these kits. Again, I feel that these drums can be used for a variety of applications, but they were categorized as west coast by the originator.
On the second kit that’s on here, there’s an instrument folder that definitely has a west coast feel to them. The bass sounds as well as the wah-wah’d guitars and other sounds should give you that g-funk sound you need for that west coast bounce, similar to that mid 90′s Dr. Dre sound.
This bundle weighs in at a little less than 500 samples, so it should keep you busy for a while.

Producers are lining up waiting… =D
Another decent sized kit, weighing in at over 500 samples. This one’s focused more on a East Coast sound. Even though I feel these can be used for any type of hip-hop if used properly, whoever classified these initially felt it best for East Coast sounds so we’ll go with that. These drums have a nice feel to them with a hint of aggression.
There are two different sets that are focused on “East Coast” on here. The first kit is the bigger kit, with separate folders for kicks, snares, hats, claps, percussion, and cymbals. The second kit is smaller, but also includes some toned instrument sounds and effects.

Producers… come out to play… =D
Another week for a big sample kit, this one has more than 700 samples. Some of these samples are tagged with AKAI MPC2000XL, so we’re going with that for the title. For those who don’t know, the MPC (short for Music Production Center) and its various models are frequently used samplers/sequencers by producers, especially by the hip-hop producer community. It allows you to play the drum patterns and record them to give your drum patterns a less robotic feel.
While I was at a producer forum in the city a few years back that featured DJ Premier, Evil Dee of Da Beatminerz and DJ Quik, I heard both Premo and Dee (don’t remember if Quik mentioned anything) mentioned how the MPC was a crucial tool in their production processes when they were interviewed by the moderator. I don’t know if the MPC’s came with pre-loaded sounds, but perhaps that is where these sounds come from. A lot of quality drums here; they can be used for a variety of hip-hop styles.
