Another week for a big sample kit, this one has more than 700 samples. Some of these samples are tagged with AKAI MPC2000XL, so we’re going with that for the title. For those who don’t know, the MPC (short for Music Production Center) and its various models are frequently used samplers/sequencers by producers, especially by the hip-hop producer community. It allows you to play the drum patterns and record them to give your drum patterns a less robotic feel.

While I was at a producer forum in the city a few years back that featured DJ Premier, Evil Dee of Da Beatminerz and DJ Quik, I heard both Premo and Dee (don’t remember if Quik mentioned anything) mentioned how the MPC was a crucial tool in their production processes when they were interviewed by the moderator. I don’t know if the MPC’s came with pre-loaded sounds, but perhaps that is where these sounds come from. A lot of quality drums here; they can be used for a variety of hip-hop styles.

Here’s Vincent, D-Ran a.k.a. Timmy Tidus, and I performing at the Coffee Cave in Newark, New Jersey this past Saturday (July 24, 2010). It was a Black Flag Shoppe event called “NJ HAS IT.” Vincent had a 15 minute set, and in the middle we did this cut. After last week’s huge set, we have an even bigger set for you guys today. We have the Filthy Drums kit which has a lot of great drum sounds including some hi-hat loops, crashes, percussion, shakers and some tambourines to add on to the necessities of kicks, snares and hats. The Deadly Drums kit is mostly a hip-hop kit, but it has excellent drums in it for various applications. I’m sure this set will get you through quite a few beats/instrumentals. This is the biggest kit I’ve uploaded so far, weighing in at over 550 samples.

On top of this, I uploaded a TR-909 kit. For those who don’t know about the TR-909, it was a drum machine developed by Roland circa mid 1980′s. I found this kit around the time I started making beats around 2000. For those looking for a classic drum machine sound, I’ve got you covered here.

“Chamber Waves” should have been out July 1st. Not sure how many of you were waiting but I have to apologize for the delay. As of right now, the album has been pushed back until the early part of Fall. I don’t want to make excuses so I won’t. It’s my fault the album missed the release date but I will do everything in my power to make sure it comes out early Fall.

There are going to be some changes on the album, about which I will post at a future date.
