MsP Production Vault: DSK Overture Orchestra VSTi

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

This week we have a VST effect and two drum sample kits. =D

DSK Music puts out some decent free VSTi’s, and this particular one is no different. The DSK Overture VSTi gives you 53 different orchestral instruments (spanning the four different instrumental families, strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion) with the ability to combine 4 of these for whatever desired orchestral sound you are looking for; definitely not bad at all for a free VSTi. The VSTi also has various sound envelope options, as well as delay, reverb and chorus options. This is probably one of the best free VSTi’s I’ve ever had the opportunity to use and I’m sure my fellow producers (especially those starting out) will have no problem adding this one to your tools.

Head on out to our Production Vault and get the VSTi today!

Hypersonic 2 on 64-Bit Windows, and Get MsP Tracks on Amazon!

Friday, December 10th, 2010

UPDATE: There were other issues too that needed to be addressed for Hypersonic 2, including crashing and not being able to load settings when you open a saved project. I’ve addressed those in a different entry that you can read here.

I like Hypersonic 2 (a great multi-instrument VSTi that has been discontinued) as a multi-instrument VSTi, and it has helped me out on different projects. So when Brian Bullion (fellow in-house producer and MsP member) bought a new computer I told him to try it out. Only problem was that we could never be successful in installing it due to the dongle software that was included in the installer. On 64-bit Windows 7 (and more than likely on Vista), it would fail with an error on CLEDX.EXE.

Good thing though is that someone was able to find a way around it, and now we have a version that will install just fine on 64-bit Windows 7 without any issues. It’s in the form of an ISO, RAR’d for a little bit of compression. Just burn the ISO or open it in your favorite CD/DVD Virtual Drive application and run the setup.

You can download this version here.

And also, for those who don’t know, MsP music is not only on iTunes, but now we’re on Amazon as well! So if you’re one of those guys who can’t buy stuff on iTunes, or don’t have an iPod, you can now buy our MP3’s from Amazon.com.

MooN ShynE’s music on Amazon.com can be found by clicking here, and Black and Blue Ink.’s music on Amazon.com can be found by clicking here.

More to come soon, including the release of an ADM album AND a Black and Blue Ink. album before the year’s end, which will both be available on Amazon and iTunes! Stay tuned!

MsP Production Vault: HS 2 VSTi

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

This week we have a multi-use VSTi. =D

This very versatile VSTi has got a ton of great sounds that can help you out with your projects. Since the product is fully discontinued and is not available anywhere anymore for purchase, I’ve put it up in the vault to allow those who are need of a versatile VSTi to grab this one for free.

My personal favorites in this particular VSTi are the Brass and Orchestral presets. The Orchestral side has Spicatto strings that sound pretty realistic in terms of how they sound when the player brings the bow upward or downward.

For an example of the spicatto strings and the brass (particularly the French Horns in this song) you can listen to Black and Blue Ink.’s song Insurgency.

MsP Production Vault: J. Mack’s Dirty South Kit and Two Organ VSTi’s, Church Organ and DirtBag!

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

This week we have a nice drum kit and two organ VSTi’s. =D

Producer J. Mack has contributed a drum kit to the vault this week. J. Mack’s got production credits with Petey Pablo, Chopper Young City, Mia-X, C-Murder, and Don Trip (who recently signed with Cool and Dre). This particular kit has a focus on the Southern sound, mostly 808 style drums as well as some instrument sounds and synths.

You can check out J. Mack’s site at http://jmackmusic.com/ for more info on his beats and purchasing/leasing options.

In addition, I’ve included two organ .dll based VSTi’s. One is a dedicated church organ, and the other is DirtBag, which has a quite a few presets for different organs, like Hammond and Rhodes.

MsP Production Vault: TPS Module Brass VSTi

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Switching it up this week, we’re going away from drums and giving you guys a VSTi! =D

The first VSTi from the vault will be the TPS Module. This is a great sounding brass module with some presets that can get you going. If you’re a fan of Polow the Don’s producing, which has a fair share of brass, you should be able to use this VSTi with the quickness.

What’s great about this kit is not only the actual brass sound you get, but you also get different ways the brass is played. There are multiple crescendos (brass starts low in volume and gradually gets louder and fuller with different characteristics) both quick and extended, nice accentuated brass hits with quick release, and you can even choose from individual brass instruments (french horns, trumpets and trombones) or groupings (ensembles, quintets) in those stylings.
