MsP Production Vault: Over 1500 Percussion Samples and 31 MDA VST Effect Plugins

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

This week we have a VST effect and two drum sample kits. =D

The percussion samples folder in this bundle has over 1500 different samples, all taken from non-conventional drumkit instruments, like congas, bongos, castanets, chimes, tablas, tambourines, bells, gongs, and more, all at very good quality. If you”re looking to add something extra to your drum beats, you may find it in here.

On the other side of the coin, are 31 VST Effect plugins courtesy of MDA. There”s a variety of different effects, from different delays to different filters, different vocoders, different stereo effects and different types of distortions. They are very simple to use, and if you need some effects away from the standard ones that come with your DAW, this may get you from point A to point B with some satisfaction.

MsP Production Vault: Antares Tube VST and Urban Fire 1 and 2 Kits

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

This week we have a VST effect and two drum sample kits. =D

Today we have the discontinued Antares Tube VST, which gives your tracks tube warmth. The sonic subtleties of vacuum tubes are desired in music because of the warmth that they give recordings. They are found in tube microphones and preamps specifically for that purpose. This particular plugin has two different tube settings (an angel for some warmth and a devil for an overdriven effect) as well as a drive setting for a little bit of customization.

For you drum searchers, we have the Urban Fire 1 and 2 kit this week to beef up your drum arsenal.

MsP Production Vault: dBlue Glitch VST Effect

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

This week we have a VST effect. =D

dBlue Glitch is an interesting VST effect. It starts with it’s 9 different individual customizable presets, “Tape Stop,” “Modulator,” “Retrigger,” “Shuffler,” “Reverser,” “Crusher,” “Gater,” “Delay,” and “Stretcher.” Now any of these effects alone would be good for a variety of uses. The strength of this plugin is how you can use each of these at different sections of a bar, and come up with some interesting combinations.

Now for those of you who may be confused by what I’m talking about, if you listen to Game’s “Put You on the Game” from his debut album, “The Documentary,” (produced by Timbaland) and go to the end, you’ll hear the beat go through different effects, like reversing, retriggering, tape stops, and the like. Coincidence? I think not. =]

I’ve most recently used this in a house/electronic song I did called “Casa de Luna,” where the lead synth that plays during the beat change/chorus part is put through these effects.

MsP Production Vault: Vinyl VST Effect

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

This week we have a VST effect. =D

This one is one of my personal favorites, especially when making boom-bap beats. It allows you to insert vinyl effects. This great plugin from Izotope can control the amount of electronic and mechanical noise, dust and scratches on the simulated record, as well as filters that simulate the era that the record would be from.

If you’re a 90’s NY era style producer, and/or a fan of Premo, Pete Rock, et. al., then you’re in for a treat with this.
